Studio Materi is a London based interior design studio, creating timeless and elegant spaces which reinterpret the relationship between the architecture, materiality and interiors delving into the essence of a building to make each space feel liveable and personal.
Co-founded by Johanna Molineus & Veronika Keegan, architect duo with extensive experience in high-end residential and commercial projects, Studio Materi emerged out of their shared passion for minimalist, paired down aesthetics, harmonising the traditional with the contemporary.
Johanna is an established architect, running her architectural practice in London since 2002, after working in Tokyo, Berlin and Paris. She earned her BA at the École nationale supérieuse des Beaux Arts in Paris and masters at the Technical University in Vienna. With her international design experience and excellent attention to detail, Johanna’s elegant, architecturally ingenious work has won clients from all over the world. Johanna is also respected for the knowledge of, and passionate commitment to the arts. She had designed public and private galleries for national institutions and individual collectors, and art plays a huge role in her personal and professional life.
Veronika studied BA Architecture at the University of Liverpool and completed Masters in Architecture in London. Her career in high end residential architecture provided a deeper understanding of the space, its proportions and the importance of the well balanced layout - the necessary foundation for a successful project. Her instinctive creativity and passion for beautifully crafted spaces, objects and art led to career shift into interiors. Through an exploration of materiality, form and texture she likes to juxtapose paired back with more playful, neutral with colour, vintage with contemporary which leads to the creation of multi faceted spaces filled with objects that evoke emotions and wealth of experiences.
Both Johanna and Veronika are certified with Architectural Registration Board and British Institute of Interior Design. Together, they believe in the importance of building's heritage and honouring its history while challenging the rules to push boundaries of architecture and interior to make each room liveable, personal and complete. Each project has its own identity, harnessing the client’s essence and collections. Yet each, too, feels distinctly Materi: timelessly elegant, harmoniously designed, and made to be both experienced and admired.
